Review: Garnier Clean + Nourishing Cleansing Oil

Well hello...I know it's been a while since my last post and I really have no excuse except for the fact that taking care of a little person is hard work.
Last week I received a sample of Garnier Clean + Nourishing Cleansing Oil for dry skin.  Now let me say that while I love my all natural cleansers I am open to trying commercial products.  Sometimes you may stumble onto something worth purchasing.
This product claims to 'instantly dissolve impurities and long-wearing makeup with no greasy residue' and in my week long experience I found it to do exactly what it claims to do. I have combination skin and even the oily portions of my face did well. Every time I washed my face I found myself reaching for this product.
After about a week my friends were asking what I was using and I got numerous compliments on the clarity of my skin. It removed my makeup easily and left my face feeling soft and clean. I plan on purchasing a full sized bottle today since I used the last of my sample this morning. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone looking for a good cleanser.

Update

I know it's been such a long time but motherhood has kept me super busy.  I was due July 7, 2014 but my little one was so cozy that he decided to come exactly one week after his due date on July 14, 2014.  I wanted to wait until after I went back to work to start blogging.

Motherhood has been awesome for me.  Aidan is a very calm and happy baby.  He sleeps majority of the night and he is a very healthy 2 month old.  He coos and laughs.  He likes when I sing and dance (even when it's bad).

Other than constantly admiring my baby and working not much else has been happening.  I plan to begin blogging on a regular basis again since I'm pretty well accustomed to life with a baby now. Well I'm glad to be back and thanks for reading.

Oh and Aidan says 'Hey'.

Mani Moment #1

So I'm trying a few new things and dabbling a little more in style and beauty.  I only hope that you all enjoy these types of posts as much as my other posts. I'll be working very hard to bring new content to this blog everyday.  So without further ado here's my mani of the moment.

The color is Chili by Revlon.  It's their Top Speed fast dry nail enamel.  It's an orange red which I absolutely love.

Hope you enjoyed.

Beauty Bit: The Perfect Nude

One of the few things that I've always had a hard time finding in my never-ending search for all things that are pretty is the perfect nude nail polish.  Well,  I'd like everyone to know that I've finally found one that I love.  It's by NYC and it's called Fashion Safari.

It's all I've been wearing on my nails.  It's just perfect for the office and it's very classy. Also, it only cost me a little over $1.  It was an awesome deal.  It only took two coats to achieve that all-over even coverage that I love (even with my clumsy technique) and it actually does dry pretty quickly.  So if you ladies are looking for a great nude polish I'd say that this is it, well at least in my book.

Thanks for reading.
XOXO

Fall Beauty Wishlist

Hello angel faces :)

I don't make it a habit of buying new things very often (responsible spending is key) so I like to get everything in one shopping trip.  Today I bring you the fall beauty items that I foresee myself purchasing within the near future. Hope you enjoy.

1.  Eau de Lune-Laura Mercier
I just absolutely love this scent.  It is so light and floral.  I've heard people say that it fades quickly but that has never been the case with me.  It reminds me of summer and spring, which is probably why I adore it.

2.  Hang Up (Lipcolor)-MAC
I have never been one for deep hues but recently I am obsessed with them.  They scream sophistication and class. Especially now that fall is here and the leaves are changing.  It fits right into the color scheme of this 'cozy-up' weather.

3. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Royal Blue
I did a photo shoot once and the makeup artist outfitted me with the prettiest royal blue mascara that I had ever seen.  Now I am hooked.  I have to have this.

4.  All Natural Shea Butter
I am a big fan of all-natural products.  Not only is shea butter good for the skin but it is also good for the hair.

5.  Avanti's Silicon Mix Conditioner
My former hairdresser used this in my hair and would never tell me what is was when I asked about it...I guess it was her secret.  Well after much snooping (don't judge) I figured out what it was.  This stuff is amazing.

Thanks for reading.

Amazing All-Natural Beauty Tips

Recently I've tried my best to stay away from products that contain too many chemicals and honestly it  has been the best thing that I've decided to do.  My skin is clearer, I have fewer breakouts, and I'm saving a lot of money.  So if you want to know the all natural beauty secrets that I swear by keep reading.

1.  Coconut Oil+Banana+Honey Hair Mask
This combination is the ultimate deep conditioner.  It's great for decreasing hair loss and soothing dry itchy scalp.  The honey acts as a humectant and helps retain moisture in the hair.  This hair mask consistently delivers.  Also, if you don't feel comfortable mixing your own conditioner try adding a little coconut oil to your normal conditioner, it makes a difference.

2.  Tomato+Avocado Face Mask
I use this mask to treat acne (and the scars), brighten my skin, and remove the impurities. I place the ingredients in a blender and then blend until it's as smooth as it can possibly get.  I then was my face with my usual cleanser and warm water (always warm water to open my pores) and I apply the mask.  I leave it on for about 30-45 mins then rinse with cool water. I always finish up by moisturizing with coconut oil.

3.  Rose Petals+Filtered Water+Witch Hazel+Glycerine Toner
I can not praise this mixture enough because not only does it act as a toner but it is effective as a setting spray as well.  Just boil the rose petals in the filtered water add about 8-10 drops of glycerin and then 8-10 drops of witch hazel.  Let it cool then place in a dark bottle.  This toner fights acne, wrinkles, and soothes irritated skin.  It is a real treat especially during the colder months.

4.  Apple Cider Vinegar+Water Drink
Sounds disgusting I know but if you can stomach the thought I promise it's not that bad. Apple Cider Vinegar has many antibiotic properties.  It can clear a stuffy nose, prevent indigestion, whiten teeth, soothe tummy ailments, and help with soar throats.  It even helps soothes menstrual cramping and did I mention studies have shown that it aids in weight loss.  So add a cap full into your next bottle of water, it can't hurt.

5.  Aloe Vera Water+Olive Oil Makeup Remover
Aloe Vera has been used for years for it's soothing qualities.  Aloe Vera water (found in most drug stores) is made up of 95% water so it's soothing and hydrating.  Adding oil to your face may seem daunting but no worries especially with olive oil because it resembles the skin natural oils production.  It won't clog your pores or cause any breakouts.  Just add about 1/2 a cup of olive oil to your aloe vera water then shake and voila you have a gentle but strong makeup remover.  This is a great remover for those with sensitive skin.

There you have it folks my favorite all natural beauty tips.  Keep in mind that every single one of these ingredients can be used in a multitude of ways.  That's what makes them so cost efficient.  If I named every way that I use these ingredients I'd have to write a book.  By the way what are some of your favorite all natural beauty tips?

Falling For Fall

We are in the last days of Summer and I am finally accepting that fact.  Summer is my favorite season and I hate to see it go but with the fall season comes....fall fashion and beauty.  I love switching my fashion and beauty routine, now that is one thing that I can appreciate.  So without further ado here are the fall beauty trends that I am dying to try.

1.  Va-Va Volume
Yep, you heard right.  The same hairstyles that I dreaded when I was younger are now trending.  Middle parts, huge curls, and big waves are back in.  The bigger the hair the better (even the ponytails are big).

2.  Bold Nails
This fall season says goodbye to neutrals and hello to bold.  No matter if it's dark, bright, metallic or glittery just make sure it's eye-catching.

3.  Cat-Eye Makeup
To be honest some runway makeup looks are much too theatrical and whimisical for everyday wear.  However, this is on look that can be worn without odd looks from onlookers.

4.  Matte Skin
During the warmer seasons we all want that dewy glow.  Well, kiss that goodbye because matte is now in. Take out the powder ladies velvety smooth isn't just for pin ups anymore.

5.  Textured Lips
This season isn't so much about colors as it is about texture.  From flat matte to extreme gloss it seems that just about any color will do just as long as the textures are extreme.  I personally prefer deeper colors but don't be surprised if you catch me with a pink or a red lip.

So as much as it pains me to pack away my warm weather items I am truly excited about what the fall season has to bring.  What are some of the things that you're looking forward to this fall season?

Review: Tomato Soap

So in my continual search of skincare products I have stumbled upon what is now my 'holy grail' item in my skincare regime.  I'm not just talking about my facial skincare regime, I'm speaking of full body skincare and it is tomato soap.  Yes, you read that correctly.....tomato soap.

Benefits
Tomatoes have high vitamin content and they are a rich source of that antioxidant nutrient, lycopene.  This is what causes tomatoes to be red.  Lycopene cuts the number of free radicals in the body thus countering the aging effects on the body.  Why wouldn't I buy it?

What's in it?
Ingredients include goat's milk, tomato leaf essential oil, tea tree essential oil, and red kaolin clay.  Each bar is anywhere from 4.5 to 5 ounces.

How can you get it?
I bought my bar from the SuppleeSoapCompany on Etsy.  (Click here)  They have other bath, body, and fragrance products for those who are interested.  They are handmade and they are made of high quality materials. I would not recommend anything that I don't trust.

Total body skincare routine next time maybe?

A Mini Haul: Target & Ulta

Okay so in true Dee fashion, this past weekend I decided to treat myself to a little retail therapy.  I've had such a rough week so I thought maybe a day to myself that included some shopping and dessert at one of my favorite cafes would brighten my mood.  It did and I also found some new very girly things.

A friend of mine had recently divulged to me that Target had a few Sonya Kashuk brush sets on sale so I decided to stop by Target and pick up a set.  Luckily enough for me there was one more left.

Absolutely cute, it comes with a case too.  All for $8.48.

Then it was on to Ulta where I found a few things to appease this spending bug.

Eye makeup removers for only $1.50.

Absolutely love these things. They make blending so easy.

This set came with a lipstick (color: Honey), a lip gloss, a mascara,
and a bronzer all for a mere $25.  You just can't beat that.

Just a stippling brush because I've clearly misplaced mine.
These are very good quality for a great price.

So there you have it my little mini haul.  Well there was a bit more.  I also purchased a tube of Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel but not for the obvious reasons.  I actually use it as primer.  Yep, it's an old trick but it works.  My makeup goes on smoothly and it keeps the oil at bay.  Some say that it's comparable to Smashbox's Photo Finish Foundation Primer and I can honestly agree.  I love Smashbox's primer but it's pretty pricey, it retails at about $36.  The Monistat gel powder only cost about $7 and it definitely gets the job done.   I'll be doing more hauls and attempting to post everyday.
Thank you for reading.

Must Haves No. 1

  • 1.     Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein (Amazon)
We all get a little nostalgic sometimes and this book brings back so many memories.  It’s full of witty poems for all ages that will surely ignite your imagination.  Did you know that Shel Silverstein wrote the song A Boy Named Sue (Johnny Cash)?  Some of my other favorites by Mr. Silverstein include Falling Up and A Light in the Attic.
    2.        Maroon ‘Trill.’ Beanie (sosorella.com)
Overall my taste in fashion is pretty multifaceted.  While I love the sleek and classic look, I also appreciate the urban and modern look.  This beanie just embodies that for me.  It’s simple but trill.
    3.       Very Irrestible Givenchy (Sephora)
I intended to purchase this fragrance the last time that I went to Sephora.  I just love the balance of floral and musk.  Maybe, this list will jog my memory the next time I walk into a Sephora.
    4.        Abstract Floral Print Pencil Skirt (New York & Company)
Like I said, I like the sleek and classic look.  The pencil skirt is undoubtedly a classic piece but the abstract floral print gives it a well-deserved update.
    5.        YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch (Sephora)
Typically I’d have a problem with spending so much money ($40) for a beauty product but after being given the chance to try this product I can definitely say that it is worth the asking price.
    6.       Jurassic Park Tee (Forever 21)
First of all let me state that Forever 21 is definitely one of my favorite places to go for graphic tees.  They’re affordable but still very cute.  Jurassic Park is also one of my favorite movies so I just have to have this shirt.
    7.       Chambray Shirt Dress (Target)
I’ve always liked these dresses but could never find one that was light enough for warmer weather.  This dress is definitely what I have been looking for; it’s appropriate for work and the weekend.
    8.       Belted Cigarette Pants (Forever 21)
Truth be told, I only want these pants because we have a wear khaki pants for work this summer.   Khakis are not my first choice in attire but if I have to wear them then I’d prefer that they not be frumpy.
    9.         Bowser Tee (Forever 21)
I’m definitely a fan of Super Mario Brothers and this tee is just so fun.  It embodies summer and would pair perfectly with a pair of cutoff shorts.  This top is what I’d typically prefer to wear on most weekends.

Now if I only had a personal shopper.....

Spring Wishlist

It's going to be Spring soon.  I love Spring and Summer, they are my two favorite seasons.  I really really do not like cold weather.  Seriously, if I could go into hibernation until Winter was over I would without hesitation.  So in anticipation of Spring I put together a tiny wishlist of things that I'm looking forward to purchasing on my next outing.

1.  The Original Blushing Cuff $50.00  (Pictured top second from the right)
Available at www.shopwithhrh.com.  Her jewelry is awesome and she also has a YouTube channel.  I briefly browsed through the pieces before picking the piece that she is shown wearing.  It just caught my eye and that's what I look for when I'm shopping online.  Something has to pop out at me.
2.  Stay Sweet $16.50 & Viva Glam Nicki $15.00
I had Viva Glam Nicki but after leaving it at a friends house I just came to the conclusion that I would not be able to retrieve it so I'll just purchase a new one.  I heard about Stay Sweet from the Archie's Girls collection and everything I have heard has been great so I think I'll give it a go.
3.  The Kindness Handbook: A Practical Companion by Sharon Salzberg  $13.35
A coworker was raving about it so as soon as I get to Barnes & Noble I'm going to pick it put.  I mean as soon as I get in there.
4.  The Madison Wedge  $39.90, The Braylen Wedge $29.90, & The Selena Heel $29.90
All available at www.alloy.com.  I love wedges and I need another go-to heel.  I believe the Selena comes in different colors and I'd like to get at least two.  However, the wedges are a staple.  Where are you going this Spring without them?
5.  The Molly Pintuck Cropped Pants $125, Midi Knit Skirt $69, & The Ponte Pencil Skirt $89
All can be found at Bebe.  I really liked the selection while I was browsing today so I'll be back for those items.  Today was just a very good perusing day.  Next up is shopping day.

How can a girl go wrong when she already knows what she wants?
